“NASCAR: Full Speed,” the well-received documentary series that premiered earlier this year, will be returning for a second season on Netflix. The season is set to premiere in 2025.
NASCAR Studios and Words + Pictures not only confirmed the return of the documentary series but also announced the formation of a new production partnership, Full Speed Entertainment. This will lead to the development of documentary content, series and special events, studio shows, podcasts, and much more.
“I couldn’t be more excited to expand our partnership with NASCAR with Full Speed Entertainment,” said Connor Schell, CEO and founder of Words + Pictures. “The first season of Full Speed was a truly rewarding project for our company, and it was a thrill to work hand in hand with NASCAR Studios every step of the way. The opportunity to bring more excellent racing content to the public and collaborate with NASCAR opens up a wealth of possibilities that we can’t wait to work on.”
The first season of “NASCAR: Full Speed” premiered in January and consisted of five episodes. It all started with the final race of the regular season, where the playoff field of 16 drivers was battled out. The following four episodes followed the unfolding of the postseason and featured interviews with drivers, team owners, analysts, and other individuals close to the action.
The drivers featured in the first season included Ryan Blaney, who won the 2023 championship, Denny Hamlin, Ross Chastain, William Byron, Bubba Wallace, Tyler Reddick, Christopher Bell, Kyle Larson, and Joey Logano. The cameras not only followed the drivers and teams on the track but also in the race shops and at their homes, if they granted access.
“At the beginning of the Full Speed process, I knew we wanted to find more ways to collaborate and capitalize on new opportunities for NASCAR as the cultural demand for engaging sports stories continues to grow,” said Tim Clark, NASCAR’s executive vice president and chief brand officer. “Words + Pictures is the leading storyteller in the sports content space, and Connor’s team excels not only in generating great ideas and visions but also in executing them in ways that captivate large audiences.”
